Position: Security System Administrator
Location: Reston, Virginia, United States
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2007-03-17
The Systems Security team is looking for a System Administrator with some
experience, but more importantly, a passion for learning more. The Systems
Security team's mission is to design, deploy, and maintain security
infrastructure at AOL including several authentication/authorization services,
public-key infrastructure, and systems to ensure audit of network traffic and
other data collected throughout the company. Job Responsibilities: Installation
and setup of hosts/applications Troubleshooting and resolving problems of all
shapes and sizes Documentation of complex processes/procedures Evaluation of
current architecture to identify areas of improvement Utilization of current
monitoring tools to provide excellent customer service to both internal and
external users. Clear explanations for making technical decisions in order to
help others understand Skills Required: Must have a solid background in UNIX
System Administration Basic understanding of applications dealing with Un
ix/Linux operating systems and TCP/IP networking. Proficient in PERL and shell
scripting Excellent customer service and communication skills are a MUST.
Skills Desired: Experience in data trend interpretation and performance
metrics. Advanced PERL & Shell scripting experience is desired. Unix security
experience (preferably with knowledge of Kerberos, PKI and Configuration
Management) Experience providing customer support to a large customer base is
desired. Education / Equivalent Experience: A Bachelors Degree in Computer
Science or Engineering and 1-3 years of directly related System Administration
experience. This position requires the System Administrator to be part of an on
call rotation. System Administrator will serve in a 24x7 on-call rotation
(roughly one week per six). As a member of an Operations group odd hours may be
required on occasion.
