Raytheon Polar Services is the primary contractor for the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) U.S. Antarctic Program. We are currently looking to hire a full-time Network Security Engineer to work with our IT Security team in our Centennial office. This position has the unique and exciting possibility of deploying to Antarctica for short periods of time. Responsibilities: Member of the Information Security Team supporting a wide variety of computer network and communications systems projects. Provides assurance support for validating information security controls and monitors network information security performance and reliability to proactively identify potential problems. Participates in projects as technical expert to ensure timely implementation or delivery of critical information security infrastructure. Performs a series of technical assessments and tests, including penetration testing, with multiple security tools on networks, communication systems, applications, operating systems, servers, personal computers, and other IT related peripherals, devices or software for technical vulnerability and risk assessment. Establishes and manages security perimeters, firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, virus protection and detection systems, and endpoint security. Develop code for various security applications, including data manipulation (using Perl and/or shell scripts). Contributes to the development of complete end-to-end project plans including validation, verification, and testing of information security controls for enterprise-wide LANs/WANs. Installs, configures, maintains, and documents network hardware and software information security products at multiple sites. Isolates faults and diagnoses system failures to resolve problems in a timely manner. Establishes and maintains secure networking and system environments based on security standards in conjunction with USAP policies. Responds to security incidents and events by conducting investigations. JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- Qualifications: Education: BS/BA in Computer Science or a related field with an emphasis in networks, or eight years progressively responsible network engineering experience with some security focus. Required Skills: Six years of experience as a Network Engineer and/or System Engineer and a minimum of three years in an Information Security related job required. Strong skills in the disciplines of Network and System Engineering with a heavy emphasis on Information Security. Information security expertise in the primary network topologies, LANs/WANs and in-depth knowledge of the Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems is required. Strong knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol and standards, and perimeter security software is required. Configuration experience with Cisco hardware and IOS required. Experience with Sourcefire, Nessus, sniffers and Snort IDS systems required. Must possess good communication skills (both verbal and written), high integrity and a customer focused attitude, as well as a well-rounded interpersonal style. Desired Skills: Experience in leading or participating as a member of a diverse project team that implements network and system security solutions is desired. Experience with incident response, forensics, and evidence preservation is desired. Experience with system and network security tools, such as HFNetCheck, TCP Dump, Tripwire, Ethereal, NMap, password cracking software, encryption software, and other related tools is desired. Experience with wireless networking and/or security is desired. Certifications Desired: Industry standard Information Security certifications (S+, GIAC, SANS, CISSP) desired.
