Staff Network Security Engineer

Work Location: eBay Phoenix
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Protect the eBay community by contributing to a world-class network security
team.
- Define and implement operational standards and guidelines for the management
and maintenance of firewalls, Intrusion Detections Systems (IDS), monitoring
systems and in-house developed data collection tools.
- Design new security measures and coordinate their implementation.
- Represent security interests on project teams.
- Provide technical leadership to team members.
- Analyze, troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems that impact eBay
infrastructure at the data, application, service, operating system, and network
levels.
- Participate in on-call rotation. Respond to critical incidents 24x7
Job Requirements Technical Skills Required:
- Hands-on technical experience in a large-scale production environment.
- Unix and/or Windows NT/2000 system administration skills.
- Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, strong ability to analyze network traffic.
- Experience implementing and maintaining an enterprise-level firewall
monitoring and management system.
- Administration experience with more than one type of firewall.
- Experience managing intrusion detection systems and incident response
workflow.

- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong sense of professionalism and ethics.
- Enthusiasm and interest in information security.
- Initiative to take on tasks without prompting -- self-starter.
- Ability to work as a member of a large security team.
- 8+ years experience in security, network, or systems administration
Additional Attributes Preferred:
- Experience with vulnerability scanning tools.
- Professional programming experience in perl, C, shell.
- Technical Degree
Bachelors Degree or Equivalent
