The Role
Working within the organisation which delivers IT services to a Government
department, you will be responsible for ensuring that service architectures are
delivered in accordance with security best practice and government standards.
You will be responsible for
• Identifying and communicating risks to both the project team and to
representatives of the Government department
• Working with systems architects to incorporate security into the
service delivery lifecycle
• Completing formal information assurance processes to support system
accreditation by the Government department
The role requires a broad information security skill set and a thorough
understanding of risk management processes. Any exposure to Government risk
management processes and formal architectural methods would be advantageous.
Person Profile:
This role requires an individual who has experience of working within complex
environments and is able to manage their own activities and priorities. They
must possess a pragmatic approach to their work and be confident in
communicating their thinking in a logical and consistent manner.
Experience:
Mandatory
• At least five years’ experience at security principle consultant
level or higher.
• Excellent time management, report writing and communication skills
• Worked within project environment holding responsibility for security
design.
• Good understanding of UK Government standards and working practices.
• Good knowledge of Security best practice methodologies.
Desirable
• Professional or vendor qualifications.
• Experience with architectural models and producing security design
patterns for re-use.
Technical Skills:
• Knowledge of security technologies and their appropriate use.
• Knowledge of application security risks and countermeasures.
• Understanding of infrastructure technologies including Microsoft, Unix,
Mainframe and networking.
• Good understanding of Windows Ssecurity, Unix/Linux security, and
network security.
• Broad technical skills with a wide exposure to a range of technologies.
• Good knowledge of security architectural methodologies.
