Job Description:

Sourcefire, Inc. is looking for a Research Analyst to join our highly talented 
Research and Development team in Columbia, Maryland. We are looking for 
individuals with experience in debugging, vulnerability research, exploit 
development, and Intrusion Detection Systems.

The Research Analyst will work in conjunction with Engineering and design 
departments to provide technical advice on ways to improve product capability 
and speed. You will create proof-of-concept work for network analysis and 
vulnerability detection tools, including proof-of-concept exploits. This 
position typically requires 3-5 years of technical experience in network 
security or IDS event analysis.

Additionally, the Research Analyst will be expected to perform complex research 
and analysis tasks leading to new or improved capabilities for company product 
lines in order to maintain the company's competitive position and profitability.
        * Observe, receive and gather information from all relevant sources.
        * Compile, code, categorize, tabulate and process information and data.
        * Evaluate and interpret results of analyses, and prepare reports of 
conclusions.
        * Document, record, store and maintain information for easy future 
accessibility by all team members.
Individuals must work well in a team environment, be highly motivated, and 
willing to learn new skills. Experience with the fast-paced startups is highly 
desired.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

        * Good analytical skills
        * Good organization, decision making, and verbal and written 
communication skills
        * Minimal to strong Perl, C, and x86 assembly experience
        * Excellent network traffic analysis experience
        * Good Unix and Windows fundamentals

        * xperience with Snort a plus
        * trong interest in network security, Open Source, or other highly 
technical subjects a strong plus
