Senior Technical Writer – Security Solutions (Req # 171)

ArcSight needs an experienced and professional Senior Technical Writer to 
assume full responsibility for building and maintaining various documentation 
components. These components support customers' installation, operation, and 
best uses of specialized security and regulatory-compliance analytical 
applications. These components also include related documentation such as use 
cases, release notes, and technical notes. 
This position emphasizes the ability to develop clear application and usage 
documentation for customers who are new to security and regulatory-compliance 
related analytical applications that run in a sophisticated enterprise-software 
environment. 
This documentation is primarily delivered online in book-formatted PDF files 
authored in Word. This position reports to the Technical Publications Manager. 

Position Responsibilities:
        Write, edit, organize, format, and deliver finished 
documentation components such as user's guides, best-practices guides, 
technical notes, and release notes. 
        Keep all assigned documentation components up-to-date with the 
development of their respective products, while meeting quality standards. 
        Coordinate and collaborate with development, marketing, 
professional services, and related groups through the product-lifecycle process 
to collect information, meet requirements, and assist in product development. 
        Assist in maintaining documentation-related portions of the 
company intranet. 
        Professionally and consistently self-edit own work and assist 
in editing the work of contractors or interns, when necessary. 
        Meet requirements for speed, deadlines, and methodology. 
        Maintain focus on delivering the documentation component of the 
overall business mission, in the most efficient and productive way. 

Required Experience:
        5+ years building and improving commercial, enterprise-class 
software documentation for administrative, installation, and deployment tasks 
and products. 
        Strong experience with network applications, compliance 
applications, best usage and use-case scenarios, and enterprise software 
issues. 
        Demonstrated ability to communicate abstract or advanced 
concepts very clearly to any audience level required by a product. 

Desired Experience:
        Proficient at authoring with Word, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat. 
        Successful examples of developing advanced 
enterprise-application documentation. 
        Track record with enterprise- or network-security products and 
issues. 
        Successful track record in small, very fast-paced start-up 
company environments. 

Education:
        BS in technical communications, English, journalism, or related 
subjects or equivalent. 

Location: Cupertino
