JOB DESCRIPTION

Position:       Security Engineer
Location:       Mannheim, , Germany
Type:           Permanent F/T

Closing Date:   2007-02-17

•  Serves as software and network engineer for installation and operations 
of military command and control systems and defense communications networks, to 
include video teleconferencing systems.
•  Analyzes military network system designs, identifies potential network 
systemic problems, and performs technical investigations of computer emergency 
incidents (troubleshooting) involving Cisco router-based,  UNIX and NT 
networked systems.
•  Engineers, designs, implements new networks for brigade and larger 
sized units; reconfigures environments, topologies and operating systems in the 
process of modernizing and upgrading customer networks.
•  Determines factors to protect military information commensurate with 
the data vulnerability and strategic military importance.  Develops software 
tools as needed to monitor and analyze activity on routers and networks.
•  Assists in development of standard system and network management 
configuration policy in accordance with Department of Defense and US Army 
policies. 
•  Resolves hardware and software computer emergency problems through 
telephonic or on-site contracts with users.  Uses an incident response and 
fault management system to report and track new and on-going security incidents.
•  Travels to units within theater to assist in database integration and 
system configurations.  Deploys to other countries as required in support of 
U.S military operations.



JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
Education Requirements:
A.      Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business 
Admin, or another hard science plus three (3) years of experience, OR
B. Associates of Arts degree plus seven (7) years of experience OR
C.      Major system/vendor technical certification (CCNA, CCSP), and seven (7) 
years experience, OR
D.      Eleven (11) years experience in communications, networking, and command 
& control systems engineering, operations and management.

Experience in addition to education requirements above (experience below may 
overlap/run concurrently):
A.      Minimum 3 years network engineering, design and development.
B.      Minimum 3 years in networks including TCP/IP, NetBUEI, or, Ethernet.
C.      Minimum 3 years UNIX or NT operating systems.
D.      Minimum 2 years U.S Military systems and networking operations or 
commercial LAN/WAN.
