JOB DESCRIPTION

Position:       Sr. Security Analyst
Location:       Crystal Lake, Illinois, United States
Type:           Permanent F/T

Closing Date:   2007-02-13

Network Security Analyst responsible for 24/7 monitoring operations within the 
Security Operations Center (SOC). The Network Security Analyst will maintain 
Intrusion Detection Systems and monitor the network for malicious/unusual 
traffic; evaluate the type and severity of incoming events and take the 
appropriate corrective action or escalation procedure.
Duties will include: 
1.      Primary responsibility for real-time detection and investigation of 
network intrusion events
2.      maintenance and monitoring of network-based intrusion detection systems
3.      detection of suspicious or anomalous network activity
4.      compiling supporting information and
5.      reports necessary for incident response
6.      Configurations and installation of network security tools
7.      Applied Watch product beta and QA testing

JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
1.      Open source Snort®, Snort-Inline, Nessus, and other open source 
project knowledge (on-hands experience) 
2.      Ethereal, tcpdump, and other packet sniffers 
3.      Networking and routing knowledge 
4.      Packet analysis for identifying IDS false positives 
5.      Demonstrated ability to write Snort® IDS signatures
