Position: Security Engineer
Location: Carpinteria, CA , California, United States
Type: Permanent F/T

Redspin, Inc., (www.redspin.com) a Santa Barbara, CA IT security company, is
looking for full time individuals to support growth in our security auditing
practice.
Work Environment:
- 30% Travel, mostly throughout California
- This is a hands-on technical job that requires strong written and verbal
communication, problem solving and customer-handling skills
- Working in ambiguous and/or undefined situations
- Opportunities for independent research, tool development, and improving our
testing methodology
- Comfortable with compiling and running tools in a Unix environment
- Clients include financial services firms - a background security check is
required
- Office Location: Carpinteria, CA

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Job Requirements:
- At least one area of strong technical experience, in: network engineering,
system administration or database development.
- Must have operational knowledge of information technology infrastructure,
operating systems (Unix and Windows) and networking (TCP/IP, Ethernet, Frame
Relay, MPLS, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF)
- Understanding of Windows networks and IT environments in mid-sized
organizations
- Commitment to continuous improvement of audit processes and practices
Relevant Security Experience:
Penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, OS hardening, firewall (Cisco,
Checkpoint) configuration, IDSs, VPN deployment, network architectures,
wireless security, encryption and authentication methods. This requires the
ability to think holistically and identify areas of risk within the IT
infrastructure of the mid-sized organization.
Background:
4 Yr. technical degree preferred but not necessarily required for someone with
a strong technical background. CISSP and/or SANS certifications would be
beneficial. 3-5 years of enterprise technical experience is required.
