Position: Security Engineer

VMware continuing Product Development is looking for a Software Security
Engineer to join the Field Escalations and Product Security (FE&PS) group.
This role serves as a point of contact for external and internal entities while
leading efforts within R&D to enhance VMware’s position as a secure
software provider.
Responsibilities:
• Respond and act on internal and external exploit reports while
communicating details for audiences of varying technical depth.
• Assess exploit risks with regard to VMware products and customers.
Coordinate cross functional efforts based on the assessed risk and recommend
corresponding remediation strategies.
• Help in the prioritization of bugs and security advisories based on
defined response policies.
• Project manage the identification and resolution of potential exploits
in new and existing products.
• Identify gaps and act to improve existing development, QA, and release
practices.
• Stay current on relevant trends and technologies to help maintain and
enhance VMware’s overall security posture.
• Develop and promote secure coding practices and guidelines for VMware
R&D groups.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years of experience in software development with specialization in
security.
• 5+ years of experience with Linux, Windows and UNIX operating systems;
Expertise in at least one, but multi-OS is desired.
• Strong C/C++ coding skills.
• Strong system software background
• Experience testing the integrity of software, including use of pen
testing tools and code analysis tools.
• Detailed understanding of attack methods, methodologies, and
countermeasures
• Strong knowledge of exploit classes including; buffer overflows, SQL
injection, etc.
• Familiar with effective processes and methodologies with regard to
source maintenance practices.
• Team oriented leadership and Project Management experience desired.
• Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently in a fast paced
environment.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field;
Masters preferred.
