The Role To work with the Internet Investigations Manager & team, having responsibility for investigation, referral, follow-up, and reporting, on all Internet technology primary and secondary Copyright infringement issues, and to provide case evidence in Court of Law. The requirements of the post necessitate developed interpersonal skills and a proven ability to undertake liaison responsibilities with a wide range of industry and enforcement organisations. The candidate should present a strong aptitude for copyright enforcement / protection investigation in a digital environment, and be capable of operating within a demanding environment, with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities: Initial investigation on Internet technology cases Liaison with Law Enforcement, Trading Standards, FACT regional investigators, and partner agencies Assist Law Enforcement with investigations and prosecutions, as directed by the Internet Investigations Manager Determining and tracking repeat offenders and directing escalated action Coordinating multi-region investigations, tracking case progress and conducting follow-up as required Maintain accurate records, expediency and diligence in investigative casework Provision of criminal evidence at Court of Law Experience and Qualification: Professionalism in investigative best practice and oral/written evidence Law Enforcement experience or equivalent conducting investigations in the private sector preferred. Understanding of investigations of Internet activities, including web hosting, IRC (DCC and XDCC) transmissions, Usenet postings & content, FTP site operation, peer-to-peer systems, http, and e-mail Technical understanding of generic file sharing protocols - P2P / Bit Torrent / eXeem Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, WHOIS, NAT, Internet protocols, and Windows OS & applications.
