Position:       Sr. Security Analyst
Location:       Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
Type:           Permanent F/T

This position is part of an IT Security and Compliance group that is 
responsible for ensuring security at all levels of the IT organization 
(network, operating system, database, and application), ensuring compliance 
with all relevant regulation and legislation that affects IT (Sarbanes-Oxley, 
HIPAA, privacy laws, etc…), and coordinating the company’s IT 
disaster recovery plan.  This group is responsible for developing and 
coordinating the implementation of IT security policies and procedures, and 
monitoring these policies and procedures once they are implemented to ensure 
compliance.  This group also acts as a liaison between IT and the 
Company’s Compliance, Internal Audit and External Audit groups, as well as 
other IT areas, other departments within the company and external vendors.  The 
specific duties of this position will include:

Ø        Leading small to moderately complex IT security and compliance 
projects and initiatives
Ø        Tracking compliance and audit findings to ensure they are 
remediated in a timely and complete manner
Ø        Assisting other IT areas with developing controls to ensure 
compliance
Ø        Developing IT security policies and procedures
Ø        Advising on the design and implementation of IT controls and 
security policies and providing recommendations on solutions to security issues
Ø        Developing training, outreach, white papers, presentations and 
other material to support the group’s goals and objectives
Ø        May also be required to coordinate the company’s IT 
disaster recovery planning and testing

Although a strong technical background is desired for this position, it is not 
a “hands on” technical position.



JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
Required Skills:

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is extremely organized and 
detail-oriented, with the ability to easily multi-task in a fast-paced 
environment.  Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Ø        Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer 
Science, or related field, OR an equivalent amount of experience
Ø        Basic competency with standard Windows productivity tools 
(Office, Visio, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project) expected
Ø        Familiarity with Windows and Active Directory from an audit 
and/or security perspective
Ø        Familiarity with compliance concepts (especially 
Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and privacy laws)
Ø        3-5 years of IT, Audit or Compliance experience
Ø        Familiarity with project management principles
Ø        Ability to drive decisions and initiatives


“Bonus” Skills:

The following are skills that are not required, but it would definitely be 
considered a “bonus” if the candidate also had any one (or more) of 
these skills/experience:

Ø        Experience in Business Continuity Planning/Disaster Recovery
Ø        Mainframe RACF experience
Ø        Knowledge of UNIX
Ø        Knowledge of high-level TCP/IP networking concepts
Ø        Security (CISSP, CISM), Audit (CISA, CIA) or Disaster Recovery 
(CBCP, ABCP) certifications
Ø        Electric utility experience
