Position: Security Engineer
Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2006-11-23
We are seeking a highly motivated Security Engineer to deploy various firewall
platforms and Intrusion Detection appliances according to customer
specifications. In this hands- on, customer-focused role, you will be part of
our Services Team working closely with our existing global client base. You
will also provide second level technical support for supported devices, to
include various firewall platforms and Intrusion Detection systems (both NIDS
and HIDS).
<p>
<b>Responsibilities:</b><ul>
<li>Manage multiple global projects to include firewall deployments, IDS sensor
deployments, and other company product appliances
<li>Work closely with global customers to configure and deploy security
appliances according to their specifications and provide sound security
guidance on practices and designs
<li>Provide second level technical support for firewall and Intrusion Detection
systems escalations to include, but not limited to, security event escalations
(firewall/NIDS/HIDS), VPN setup, application troubleshooting, and
Move-Add-Change (MAC) reviews
<li>Remotely configure and maintain firewalls and intrusion detection
appliances in accordance with customers’ corporate standards
<li>Provide general technical support to clients for queries involving our
product offerings
<li>Maintain current IDS signatures across customer base to include the testing
and implementation of the new signatures
<li>Review and analyze daily reports for potential security issues to include
trend analysis and detection of anomalous traffic patterns
<li>Keep up-to-date on new security technologies, vulnerabilities, and exploits
<li>Other duties as assigned to support projects and ongoing operations</ul>
JOB REQUIREMENTS

<b>Requirements:</b><ul>
<li>3+ years similar work experience in the security industry with a strong
focus on good security practices
<li>Strong experience in network and systems security to include not only an
understanding of security concepts, but also the ability to implement processes
and solutions to network and security problems
<li>Ability to accurately document procedures and network designs
<li>Experience administering and deploying hardware firewalls and intrusion
detection appliances
<li>Strong working knowledge of networking and TCP/IP
<li>Basic-to-intermediate knowledge of UNIX/Linux
<li>Self-directed and motivated, with ability to work independently, as well as
collaboratively in a team environment
<li>Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with ability to manage
multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
<li>Excellent problem-solving, oral and written communications skills
<li>Must be available to work a flexible schedule and participate in a rotating
"on-call" schedule with other team members
<li>Experience with SCADA, networking and UNIX system administration is a plus
<li>Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification
is a plus</ul>
