The Role
To process all network interconnection requests in accordance with the 
Authority for Network Connection (ANC) process. To ensure that all such 
requests are processed within agreed turnaround times.
To undertake evaluation of network interconnection requests in accordance with 
the ANC process and the Technical Network Security Executive (TNSE) group, with 
the objective of ensuring that the quality of their security meets the 
Organisations needs and customer expectations.
To provide expert technical input into the design, specification and 
implementation of systems, networks and products to reduce the cost of security 
failure.
To provide expert input to the design, specification and procurement of secure 
technical solutions in line with customer and the organisations requirements, 
so that internal customers can be assured of a timely; cost effect and 
practicable security countermeasures.
Responsibilities
To comply with company policy and best practice in security, legal and 
regulatory compliance, including compliance to international and national 
quality standards.
To safeguard customer information at all times.
To access, use or disclose customer information only when necessary to carry 
out the job operations.
To undertake technical, information and process reviews of systems, products, 
networks and services with a perceived serious risk of security exposure and 
subsequently provide input to any relevant security improvement programme.
To analyse and deliver secure solutions to meet business needs.
To provide expert security advice and guidance to managers of evolving systems 
and networks to ensure quality of security meets the organisations needs.
To provide expert technical input to systems during design, development and 
initial implementation.
To analyse and report on ways in which the quality of security in electronic 
systems can be improved, including input to the development of security policy.
To maintain a detailed awareness of computer security issues and the impact of 
new technology.
To process and authorise new network interconnection requests and to report 
rejections to the Technical Security Network Executive.

Technical/Professional Competencies
The job holder must:
•  posses a wide and in-depth knowledge of information security in a 
management role;
•  be able to demonstrate a specialist knowledge of IT security issues;
•  have IT experience in preferably development and service delivery;
•  be able to work and communicate effectively with people at all levels;
•  possess the skills, experience and ability to develop and nurture a 
security culture within a high profile organisation;
•  have recent and in-depth knowledge of risk management techniques;
•  be familiar with current security standards, in particular ITSEC and 
BS7799, their requirements, relevant legislation and industry best practice.
•  be willing to travel both within the UK, with the possibility of 
occasional overseas travel.
The job holder should:
•  have a working knowledge of mobile telecommunications;
•  understand the role of audit, possibly through time spent in an audit 
function;
•  be commercially and financially aware;
•  have undertaken technical security evaluations.
