Position: Security Engineer
Location: Milpitas, California, United States
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2006-11-18
Responsible for design, implementation, integration, installation and
maintenance of security architecture of Avaya voice solution suites including
but not limited to:
- Architecture, integration, maintenance of VOIP and IP security systems with
an emphasis on Mitigation & management
- Evaluate Avaya security systems requirements and make recommendations for
changes and improvements continually
- Work with various remote developers, partners and global systems integrators
to coordinate new installations, problem resolution and maintenance
- Maintain regular communication with other security experts and developers in
house to ensure a coordinated approach to systems management
Acts as a key technical contributor to the voice solutions security efforts.
Has depth of expertise in TCP/IP family of protocols, VOIP, IDS/IPS, Security
Event Correlation, Threat assessment, VPN, Firewall, antivirus, vulnerabilities
in and attacks on SIP, VOIP and H.323
Work is performed with minimal direction and reviewed by senior management.
Provides solutions to a diverse range of complex problems.
Requires 8 - 12 years experience and a BS degree or equivalent experience.
CISSP preferred.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

- BS in Computer Science, Information Security or equivalent work experience
- 8+ years of experience with software development with at least 4+ years with
C/C++ and Java
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience designing and implementing technical
security solutions such as IDS/IPS solutions, Firewalls, VPNs, antivirus.
- In-depth understanding in one or more areas: Unix security, Cryptography,
Firewall, PKI, IDS/IPS, SIP, SRTP, Event correlation, Honeypots, Threat
assessment, VOIP/SIP vulnerabilities, H.323 security and Network Forensics.
- Experience in implementing and/or interfacing to enterprise class network
management applications and familiarity with SNMPv3 desired
- Experience in Java application servers and Java enterprise APIs, Enterprise
class server applications in Java, understanding of extreme multi-threading,
run time performance, Java Security APIs etc preferred
- Knowledge of/experience with Nmap, Nessus, Snort, Ethereal, Tripwire,
Vulnerability scanners and other Network Forensics tools strongly desired
- Understanding of Microsoft systems in enterprise deployments (Windows NT
server, 2000 server, AD) and Mutliple types of Unix systems desirable
- CISSP certification desirable
- Ability to make independent decisions within the bounds of management guidance
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to understand and grasp new concepts and technologies quickly
- Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks independently
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and pleasant customer
relationship skills
