--------------------------------------------------- SECURITYFOCUS JOBS - NEW OPPORTUNITY --------------------------------------------------- JOB DESCRIPTION --------------------------------------------------- Position: Sr. Security Analyst Location: Doha, , Qatar Type: Permanent F/T Closing Date: 2006-11-16 Q-CERT is Qatar’s national computer security incident response team. The Q-CERT incident response team is responsible for managing daily operations involving watch, warning, and investigation of security incidents and cyber threats. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing tasks related to incident coordination, technical analysis of security threats, and coordinating/disseminating appropriate watch, warning, and threat information. Key responsibilities include: - Conducting technical investigation of computer security incidents and coordinating incident response activities. - Assessing the severity of security threats (e.g., incidents, vulnerabilities, malicious code) and coordinating broad notifications to sponsors and customers in a timely manner. - Coordinating and publishing updates to technical documents (i.e., Q-CERT webpage) based on the analysis of ongoing or pervasive security threats. - Answering the telephone hotline during normal business hours and outside of business hours for emergencies. - Corresponding with internal analysis teams, sponsors, customers, and other Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs). - Representing Q-CERT and presenting material in public forums and conferences. - Developing and maintaining procedural documentation and participating in internal tools specification. JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- Education/Training: BS in Computer Science with three (3) years of applicable experience or equivalent experience; MS in Computer Science with one (1) year of applicable experience or equivalent experience; or PhD in Computer Science with equivalent experience. Experience: Candidates should have at least three (3) years of user-level experience in one or more operating systems and be able to demonstrate knowledge of: - Various Internet protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP). - One or more security technologies (e.g., encryption, firewalls, antivirus). - System and/or network administration. - At least one enterprise-class language (e.g., Java, C++, C). - At least one other high-level language (e.g., Perl, Ruby, Python, PHP). Skills/Abilities: Successful candidates will: - Have a strong interest in and possess basic knowledge of network and computer security issues. - Be able to work meticulously with careful attention to detail. - Recognize and deal appropriately with confidential and sensitive information. - Maintain composure while dealing with difficult people. - Interact effectively with technical and non-technical audiences via both verbal and written communications (e.g., technical writing, user guide development, requirements analysis). - Be able to collaborate effectively and work closely within a coordinated team environment. - Be able to quickly learn new procedures, techniques, and approaches. - Communicate and work effectively under normal and stressful situations. - Meet inflexible deadlines. Mobility: Job requires international travel; Ability to travel to other locations in Doha, Qatar and CMU/SEI Pittsburgh office; and frequent local travel to client sites and workshop venues.
