Job Description
Verizon Business is seeking motivated individuals who are exceptionally skilled
network security researchers to fill senior researcher positions. Ideal
candidates have a broad background in the areas of threat analysis and incident
response, and are currently positioned in similar operationally focused roles.
Candidates are expected to function as creative contributors who lead team
initiatives in the areas of: Identifying merging threat and network trends,
Incident Response (CIRC/CSIRC) coordination with internal teams and external
entities, presenting at industry events such as conferences, and authoring
whitepapers. Candidates are also expected to interface with internal and
customer audiences, with a varying degree of knowledge in the subject space.
Candidates may be positioned for media interaction upon successful outcome of
directed research or response activities. Verizon Business provides a unique
opportunity in the field of Internet threat research and mitigation, boasting
one of the largest public IP network infrastructures in the world.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Requirements
Required Qualifications/Skills:
* Candidates must be eligible for a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret
Clearance (U.S. citizens only)
* Expert familiarity with TCP/IP (IPv4 and IPv6) networking
* Expert familiarity with current emerging Internet threat types
* Practical experience with analysis of Honeypot/Honeynet captures
* Basic scripting experience in a Unix environment (Perl)
* Proficient written and verbal English communications skills
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
* Familiarity with data visualization, data mining, and OLAP frameworks
* Familiarity with Security Event Management (SEM) architectures and
their applications
* Able to construct SQL queries to retrieve specific data or trends
* Minimum five (5) years experience as security engineer, threat intelligence
analyst, or similar senior technical role
