Senior Software Engineer
Responsibilities
Symantec Corporation is offering a software engineering position within the
Security & Data Management Group (SDMG) development team. The primary focus of
this position will be working with a team to design and create software for
various products developed by SDMG.
The development environment includes, but is not limited to:
• Optimized Web User Interface Design and Application development using
C#
• Application Development on Windows and Linux using C/C++
• Database design and interaction using MS SQL Server 2000/2005
• Intuitive Web Portal design using Windows Server 2003 and IIS,
programming in ASP.NET and C#.
The primary emphasis of this role is on using C# to write software for a 24x7
guaranteed uptime production environment for web-based applications. Expert
knowledge of Microsoft .Net technologies and the CLR is important. In addition
T-SQL and Win32 programming knowledge is required. The successful candidate
should also be experienced in database schema design.
As a senior member of the team the successful candidate is expected to be
involved in the design and implementation of major projects and also provide
mentorship for junior engineering staff. Among other duties the successful
candidate will be required to author functional specification and design
documents and be involved in various aspects of the project lifecycle.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications
Required Education: BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical
Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Required technical experience:
1. 6+ years professional software development experience
2. 3+ years using C#
3. 3+ years developing ASP.NET web-based applications
4. 3+ years .NET Windows application and service development
5. 2+ yrs relational database development & design experience
6. 2+ yrs T-SQL programming experience on Microsoft SQL Server databases
7. Basic knowledge of Microsoft SQL server trouble-shooting methodologies
and experience with database configuration management tools
Additional desired, but not mandatory, experience:
• Win32 Multithreading programming experience
• Java programming language
• C/C++ application development
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Replication
