Position: Software Engineer
Location: Columbia, Maryland, United States
Type: Permanent F/T

Sourcefire, Inc. is looking for a Software Engineer I to join our highly
talented and rapidly expanding team in our Headquarters in Columbia, Maryland.
This engineer will work on our Product Development's Maintenance Team.
The primary responsibilities of the engineer are:
* Reproducing customer issues escalated from support
* Interacting with customer support to gather sufficient information to
reproduce customer problems.
* Identifying and fixing problems in released products
* Interacting with product development for assitance in fixing problems and
ensuring fixes are included in future releases
* Creating test cases to verify fixes
* Building and testing patches
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Skills:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent)
Basic Unix system administration skills
Strong troubleshooting skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to learn new skills and apply them quickly
Ability to work with legacy code to fix problems
Strong verbal and written communication skills
TCP/IP networking experience
In addition, the following skills are desired:
2+ years of experience with C and Perl
Prior experience as part of a software development team
Prior web-based UI development experience
Knowledge of Javascript
Knowledge of MySQL
Knowledge of network security
Familiarity with Snort
