 Department Description  Corporate Advanced Internet Platforms (AIP) is 
responsible for rollout and 24x7 support of J2EE applications on shared BEA 
Weblogic Application server platforms. Team consists of a number of highly 
skilled specialists working with vendors and first level support functions to 
drive platform roadmap and to ensure quality during the onboarding process of 
new applications. 
 Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations  Individual will be responsible for 
J2EE application performance monitoring and evangelizing of Wily Introscope 
usage within Motorola.
Job profile / responsibilities include the following activities: 
Ownership / Subject matter expert for Wily Introscope J2EE application 
monitoring
Responsible for Wily Introscope tool usage road map
Instrumentation of J2EE applications on BEA WL (clustered, multi tier) in order 
to collect data that will give an indication of application health and 
performance
Implementation of Wily dashboards, reports, custom probes (minimal), analysis 
of information, and alerting that will enable 24x7 global support teams to 
triage and resolve issue quick and reliably
Position requires interfacing with key business clients to discuss monitoring 
and alerting requirements as well as triage of application and or environment 
issues
Position requires marketing and basic training Wily Introscope usage amongst 
development and application support teams.
Position requires ability to use a computer for 6 or more hours a day. 
Position will require to participate in the AIP "on call" team to provide level 
3 support in order to ensure operation of our application infrastructure. (On 
call will be limited to one week every two months). During "On call" candidate 
needs to have the ability to work from home connected to the internet via DSL/ 
cable outside of business hours with a maximum reaction time of 30 minutes to 
connect to our infrastructure. On call requires wearing a pager and/or cell 
phone with paging capabilities outside of business hours. 
Although work during nights and weekends might be required, candidate will be 
given flexible work time whilst being “on call” to ensure maximum 
weekly work time does not exceed 40 hours. 



JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
Specific Knowledge/Skills:
  Experience with BEA Weblogic Server Version 7.x / 8.1 from a system 
administrator perspective
• Extensive troubleshooting skills
• Development experience in Java / Java script / Perl (plus)
• Solid UNIX operating system administration skills preferred
• Wily Introscope user experience or experience with other monitoring 
tools required
• Understanding and experience with Internet technologies, such as: 
TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, FTP, SMTP, SSL, Firewalls, load balancers, intrusion 
detection, and website monitoring required.
• Must be a self-starter and a team player, as well as having the ability 
to work with minimal supervision 
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude whilst working with time 
constraints and the need to prioritize work required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills (English) required.
