Position:       Penetration Engineer
Location:       McLean, Virginia, United States
Type:           Permanent F/T

Job Responsibilities:

This position is for a Network Penetration Engineer who will work at a Big Four 
consulting office in northern Virginia. The employee will perform a range of 
technical duties related to IT security in the US Intelligence Community (IC) 
and for Federal Civilian and Defense clients. Duties include:

•  Vulnerability assessments and security scans against hosts/systems and 
internal and external networks, including network discovery. 
•  Penetration testing against development and production networks and 
systems. 
•  Creation of test plans and test procedures. 
•  Security testing and analysis of software applications and operating 
systems. 
•  Installation, configuration, and operation of vulnerability scanning 
and test tools. 
•  Collation and documentation of test results, including 
discussion/presentation to clients. 
•  Recommendation of countermeasures and remediation techniques to 
eliminate vulnerabilities. 




JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or computer- or network-related 
studies) or demonstrable job experience. 

Required Skills:

•  Detailed, working knowledge of vulnerability scanning techniques/tools, 
including the ability install configure and operate third-party vulnerability 
discovery tools (for example NESSUS, Nikto, Nmap, ISS Security Scanner, 
Metasploit, Canvas, etc.) 
•  Working knowledge of common vulnerabilities in major operating systems 
(UNIX, Windows, etc) and ability to follow emergence of new vulnerabilities and 
exploitation techniques, OR working knowledge of network protocols and network 
level vulnerability trends. 
•  Technical specialization in at least one of the following: Windows, 
Solaris, Linux, Databases, Routers/Firewalls) 
Demonstrable ability to identify and apply vulnerability exploitation 
techniques.
