Network Engineer
Position Description:
As a Senior Network Engineer, this role provides support for all areas of the
technical support function including mainframe systems and communications
software, test tools, performance, capacity planning, eCommerce and call center
technology as required. Provides technical leadership through special projects
and major projects.
Principal Accountability:
· Provide leadership in setting strategic architectural and
software plans. Provide technical leadership of a support systems area.
· Manage multiple projects to assure objectives are met on time
and within cost. Evaluate performance of project team assigned and report
performance upon project completion to management.
· Lead planning, scheduling and use of data processing
facilities. Lead the design and development of the systems and network
infrastructure to support business applications and answer technical questions
pertaining to the operating and network systems.
· Develop standards as regarding the operating and network
environment, user written macros and utilities. Design appropriate
documentation for use by all areas and ensure enforcement of standards by
monitoring various systems.
· Evaluate and recommends new hardware and software in support of
network and operating systems. Lead cost evaluation and justification for
large-scale systems software.
· Design and implements reporting systems used to support any
recommended change, including the development and continued monitoring of a
performance measuring system.
· Represent business unit at technical user functions and develop
proposals for performing data processing functions.
· Maintain and apply knowledge of leading edge technology to
reach business goals and objectives.
· Assist application development with design configuration,
implementation and problem resolution.
· Adhere strictly to compliance and operational risk controls and
regulatory standards, policies and practices; report control weaknesses,
compliance breaches and operational loss events.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
Technical Responsibilities:
· Provide technical leadership, management and direction to
ensure that security objectives to meet service level agreements or performance
objectives;
· Lead and manage the team in the selection of vendors or tools
and provide input to Group Manager to support supplier management efforts;
· Partner with and give feedback to vendors to ensure that
SLA’s or performance objectives are met;
· Use industry best practices to manage operations at the lowest
cost and improve operations performance;
· Hands on technical responsibilities for implementing network
infrastructure solutions, which may include routing, switching, and load
balancing.
· Implement and be responsible for the implementation of
technology;
· Collaborate with other teams as necessary to ensure customer
service levels are met;
Requirements:
· A Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science
or related field
· Minimum of six years specialized experience in support systems
technology, network security, and infrastructure-based work.
· Must have in depth experience installing, troubleshooting, and
designing infrastructure based on Cisco's routing and switching platforms.
Cisco CCIE certification also highly desirable.
· Must have some experience or exposure to network load balancing
technologies
· Knowledge of and experience with regulatory compliance issues.
· Corporate level/large infrastructure experience required, with
the aptitude to understand application flows and overall knowledge of the
services a global network infrastructure supports.
· eCommerce experience highly desirable.
· Excellent core networking skills a must. A knowledge of
fundamental protocols such as IP, TCP and UDP is a MUST!
· Strong awareness and attention to detail, quick response
measures, solid project multitasking, and ability to work independently.
· Recognition as a technical resource within the work group;
knowledge of multiple platforms, and multiple network protocols; and extensive
and specialized technical knowledge in Support Systems.
· Must be available for on-call, 24/7 support.
· Must be open to travel, as needed.
· Experience with network security technologies such as
firewalls, and IDS is a plus!
