Security Operations Engineer
Department Description:
The Motorola Security Operations Center is currently seeking an individual with
strong security background to join a team of professionals delivering quality
IT security services to a variety of top-tier international clients.
We are a Fortune 100 company with sales over US$36 billion in 2005, a global
leader in communications technologies across many business lines. Our Security
Operations Center (SOC) provides 24x7x365 security support service for our
customers.
Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations:
The Security Consultant team has a wide range of responsibilities although the
primary function will be the responsibility to monitor security related
information using a specific 3rd party application. Additional responsibilities
include attack and penetration tests, procedure creation, and incident
response. It is also the Security Consultant’s duty to perform the various
security tasks that are requested by the customer, interface with the customer,
gather new
customer requirements and build new services.
The members of the Security Consultant group must have the ability to act
independently of management and must possess critical decision making skills.
Occasional off-hours work is likely to be required of anyone in this role.^^
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Basic Qualifications:
BSCS from an accredited college or university, plus a minimum of 4 years of IT
Security experience OR a minimum of 12 years of IT Security experience
Specific Knowledge/Skills:
An ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Strong analytical and report writing skills
- 4+ years of full-time, hands-on information security experience
- Experience coordinating incident response efforts
- Able to quickly and accurately assess emerging threats
- Familiarity with multiple network security products
- Familiarity with Vontu Security Applications
- Strong understanding of network protocols
- Able to communicate clearly to non-technical persons
- Able to develop procedures for operational tasks
- A bachelors degree, preferably in engineering or an IT related program
- Security certifications such as GCIA, GCFA, GCIH, CISSP, Security+
