Manager, Systems and Information Security

My client is based in Maryland, north of the Baltimore area.  They are a 
relatively small (1200 employees) company focused on providing technology and 
management services in the field of Logistics.  They are searching for someone 
who can address several priorities which are:  communicating security risks to 
senior executives, developing and defining security policies and procedures, 
working with auditors and regulatory issues, promoting security awareness 
internally, consulting on business projects and managing a small team of 
security administrators and analysts.  This is a great opportunity for someone 
with a solid security background and leadership skills to manage a program in a 
smaller but progressive and complex organization. 

Here is the company’s description of the responsibilities and requirements 
of the position.

Develop security policies, security models and procedures for Information 
Management and facilities. 

Review security features of new and existing Information Management systems to 
ensure that they meet the security policy requirements. 

Actively implement security policies within the organization as it relates to 
facilities, application processing and infrastructure. 

Facilitate communications with business departments to raise the importance of 
security as it relates to exchanging information internally and externally. 

Evaluate security practices and develop programs to improve security. 

Provide information on security policies and practices for employees as needed. 

Prepare and publish papers and/or articles on good security practice for use by 
employees and others.

Ensure that Corporate-sponsored training conforms to existing policies.
 
Collaborate with the Applications Development team to ensure that development 
methodologies incorporate security policies.
 
Maintain awareness of changes in the IT security industry by attending classes 
and seminars as required to maintain a high level of proficiency in the fields 
of computing security and business continuity.
 
Network with other information security professionals, constant awareness of 
the trends regarding security and business continuity in the industry 

Base compensation $95-$105K + bonus 
 

 
 
 


JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
Education: 

BS in Computer Science or MIS or a related field 

Experience:

Minimum of 4 years in an I.T. leadership role 

Experienced in developing security policies, implementing security awareness 
programs and participating in I.T. audits. 

Ability to influence and make recommendations to executive management. 

Min. two years direct experience as an IT Security Professional 

Background in program analysis, systems development, applications development, 
and networking; in-depth knowledge of firewall and intrusion prevention 
technologies 

Background in applying advanced IT security concepts. 

Extensive understanding of contemporary hardware and software architectures 

Security Certifications a plus
