Their mission is to ensure that the discovery, development and delivery of Alberta’s energy resources and utilities services takes place in a manner that is fair, responsible and in the public interest. The EUB regulates the safe, responsible and efficient development of Alberta’s energy resources: oil, natural gas, oil sands, coal and electrical energy; and the pipelines and transmission lines to move the resources to market. The Function Reporting to the Manager of Technology Support and Infrastructure your responsibilities will include: • Providing leadership, guidance, direction and coordination of information technology security across all IT groups including Technology Support and Infrastructure (TSI) and Business Information Solutions (BIS). • Coordinating and developing policies, policy directives, operational procedures, technical standards and security architectures, including periodic reviews to ensure they are current and comprehensive. • Leading the development and maintenance of a Security Plan based on identified security risks including internal and external security threats, vulnerabilities and other associated risks. • Leading the implementation of security monitoring criteria and daily operational monitoring of security events against established criteria to ensure timely detection, containment and incident response. • Responsibility for maintenance and management of the IT Disaster Recovery Plan. • Responsible for ensuring that programs/projects are reviewed for security risks and appropriate security requirements are included with newly developed production systems. • Initiates, facilitates and promotes activities to foster information security awareness within the organization. • Facilitating and assisting auditors as required in the conducting of periodic audits of the security environment. • Provide project leadership for security projects. JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- The Individual 1. Education: • Bachelor's degree, with emphasis in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline augmented by technical security and network training. • Security certification, such as CISSP, CISA, CISM or SAN-GIAC is preferred. • Technical training to have been supplemented by system analysis and project management training. 2. Experience: • Must have a minimum of ten years of progressive experience within Information Technology and three to five years of direct IT security experience. • In depth working knowledge of: - security processes including threat and vulnerability risk assessments, event monitoring, account management, investigations, etc; - network security including routing, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, VPNs, etc.; and infrastructure security including Windows security, Active Directory, Group Policy, RSA SecureID/ACE, etc. • A general understanding of mainframe RACF and Microsoft SQL Server security. • Must have excellent presentation and communication skills, including the ability to recognize and communicate differently to customers or management with differing levels of technical understanding. • Demonstrated skills in and ability to: - apply critical thinking to resolve problems and carry out assigned projects. - define security policy, protocols, procedures and conduct compliance monitoring. - communicate, negotiate and obtain agreement on controversial and/or complex issues. - define, analyze and solve problems requiring creativity and flexibility. - communicate ideas and policy recommendations effectively, both orally and in writing to a broad spectrum of audiences. - establish goals and objectives and develop comprehensive plans. - develop and monitor performance indicators and program effectiveness. - develop strategic, tactical and operational plans and proposals for the IT security program. - establish and maintain effective working relationships in a diverse, team oriented work environment. 3.
