Position: Manager, Information Security

Background
The Bank uses a range of object-oriented technologies for implementing its
trading, research, and settlement systems. UNIX (Solaris), and Windows are the
standard operating systems, where UNIX is used as the preferred platforms for
servers and high throughput applications. The majority of the firm's data are
stored in Sybase and Oracle databases.
Responsibilities:
IT Security Officer is responsible for all IT Security aspects globally.
Coordinate the delivery, education and compliance with information security
policies and standards.
Assist with the oversight, guidance, and administration of security policies
and regulations to maintain a safe and secure computing environment. Provide
advice to the business on the protection of information and technology assets.
Participate in various audits, risk assessments, investigations, and security
incident handling throughout the organization. Coordinate / monitor the
implementation of the various operational security requirements across all IT
departments. Serve as project leader for security-centric efforts. Understand
and, where appropriate, challenge technical suggestions/solutions put forth by
developers and systems administrators while maintaining a cohesive working
environment. Evaluate and recommend detailed technical solutions for
implementing various security projects. This may include technical research,
3rd party product evaluations, and sample script writing. Assist the Global
Security Manager in Defining and prioritizing upcoming security projects gl
obally. Helping ensure that contingency plans for IT systems are developed,
maintained, and tested. The position has the potential of eventually
encompassing the full Security role.
Qualifications, Education & Experience (essential)
First Class Engineering or Computer Science degree from first or second tier
University. At least 3 years practical experience in IT Security (as a
permanent employee, not as a contractor) in a financial firm.

5 years practical experience in IT Security in a financial firm.
Skills and Aptitude (essential)
Good working knowledge of Networking, Unix and Windows is essential. Ideally
the candidate would also some basic knowledge of Sybase and/or Oracle. The
ability to divulge and understand the real underlying security issues and
appropriately ascertain practical and manageable solutions to mitigate the
risks, not simply apply industry “best practices”.
Skills and Aptitude (preferred)
An extra curricular interest in programming would be an advantage
