Job Outline:
A Security Firewall Engineer is responsible for assisting Senior Security
Firewall Engineers to ensure that our customers’ firewalls and networks
comply with the relevant security standards. You will lead on small
implementation projects where appropriate and will build and implement certain
types of supported firewalls.
You would be expected to have knowledge of some relevant supported firewalls
including Cyberguard, CISCO Pix, Nokia, Crossbeam and Netscreen. Also relevant
technical qualifications must be gained and retained, for example CCSE. A
knowledge and understanding of strong authentication and encryptors is also
useful for this role.
Security Firewall Engineers provide second line support for firewall problems
and where relevant will liaise with more senior Security Firewall Engineers to
progress and resolve reported problems.
This role requires a proactive, approach as Security Firewall Engineers are
expected to ensure that work undertaken complies with customers’ Service
Level Agreements whilst complying with security requirements. You will build
good relationships with internal and external parties and will have the ability
to make informed decisions based on customer process and knowledge.
Security Firewall Engineers are part of the Network Security Support Team and
report into the manager of this unit.
Note: Security clearance is required for this role & Ideally you will have this
in place.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
•Basic Knowledge of one or more of the following: - Cyberguard,
Checkpoint, Nokia, UNIX (Solaris), Netscreen, Cisco Pix, WINTEL
•Understanding of Network protocols
•Knowledge of Government Assurance standards
•Strong authentication experience including RSA ACE Server
•High standard of oral and written communication skills with the ability
to provide written analysis in basic technical and business language.
