Position:       Forensics Engineer
Location:       Columbia, Maryland, United States
Type:           Permanent F/T

Job Description: Applies current computer science technologies to the design, 
development, evaluation, and integration of computer systems and networks to 
maintain system security. Conducts risk assessment and provides recommendations 
for application design. Works with commercial computer product vendors in the 
design and evaluation of state-of-the-art secure operating systems, networks, 
and database products. Provides security engineering and integration services 
to internal customers. Involved in a wide range of security issues including 
architectures, electronic data traffic, network access and analysis. Uses 
encryption technology, penetration and vulnerability analysis of various 
security technologies, and information technology security research.  Applies 
computer forensic technologies and applications in support of unauthorized 
disclosures.  May prepare security reports to regulatory agencies such as 
Departments of Defense or Energy. Perform examinations of computers an
 d computer related media for the presence or evidence of unauthorized 
disclosure of controlled information, violation of public policy, criminal or 
national security related content. Master at a minimum two computer file 
systems including FAT/FAT32, and one of the following: NTFS, Linux, ext2/3/UFS, 
or HFS/HFS+. Required to travel on short notice to DOE operating locations 
worldwide. In addition to examination duties, SFE's perform research, 
development testing and evaluation work (to include network analysis, 
programming and or reverse engineering) as required. This position requires 
excellent command of written English, report writing and briefing skills. 
Examiner's maintain frequent contact with, and provide weekly status updates to 
examination requestors and may have interaction with Executive Level government 
officials.  May prepare security reports to regulatory agencies such as 
Departments of Defense or Energy.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Skills: Computer Forensic Cert

Desired Skills:  A+Cert, Network+ Cert, CISSP, MCSE. CNA

Education:  Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related 
discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of 
professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related 
Masters degree. Considered an emerging authority
