Research Analyst – Japanese Language

Webroot is widely recognized for setting the technology standard by focusing on
research and development. Our highly regarded R&D organization is expanding
operations. In light of this expansion, Webroot’s Anti-Spyware Team needs
an analyst to research Japanese spyware threats and create software to detect
and remove this software from infected machines. This position involves
extensive use of utilities and programs that identify system processes and
network traffic. The position requires you to be an expert in all Windows
operating systems and have a strong bent towards PC security and privacy. You
must also be fluent in Japanese, both written and spoken. This position may be
located at our R&D Headquarters in Boulder, CO or at our Advanced Technology
Center in Mountain View, CA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct research to discover spyware, creating tools and algorithms to
detect and identify installed malicious software
• Identify new distribution methods and techniques for removal
• Analyze information and develop methods of detection and removal of
spyware
• Prioritize and switch among several projects simultaneously while
quickly learning a breadth of new concepts and technologies

JOB REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• 2+ years experience in development, additional experience is preferred
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required
Windows-specific knowledge is a MUST:
• Windows Registry structures and access methods
• Windows file/folder structures and file access methods
• Ability to perform in-depth searches for keywords within the registry
and files/folders
• Windows Security features
• Fluency in Japanese, able to communicate in written and spoken English
• Good knowledge and understanding of Japanese culture
Technical skills and solid experience with the following programs:
• Personal Firewalls
• Anti-virus
• Anti-spam
• Anti-spyware
• Utilities that monitor system changes, like regmon, filemon, GOBACK,
etc.
Advanced level knowledge of the following:
• Trojans
• System Monitors
• Adware
• Viruses
• Keystroke Loggers
