Position: Technical Support Engineer
Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2006-05-22
Avaleris is seeking career-focused support professionals for client and partner
engagements. This challenging position will require the selected candidate to
work with Avaleris’ international customer base to deliver post-sales
customer support. This role will support the deployment of mission critical
identity management systems by way of integration and enhanced functionality of
proven identification and verification solutions.
Candidates must be self-motivated and able to act autonomously under the
direction of a project manager and/or other senior technical personnel.
Applicants must have an intrinsic desire to study and apply leading-edge
technology expertise. Successful candidates must be able to interpret potential
opportunities within their current engagements as well as evangelize Avaleris'
offerings to prospective customers.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working directly with
customers utilizing complex software and network environments.
Responsibilities:
• Working as a technical resource to identify, replicate and resolve
difficult issues that lie within the diverse realms of networking, network
security, applications, operating systems, and the often complicated nature of
the customer relationship.
• Proficiently control customer situations and set customer expectations
appropriately, creating resolution plans as necessary.
• Development and maintenance of written technical information for use by
customers.
• Solid commitment to providing superior customer service to all Avaleris
customers.
• Some on-call rotations will be required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Skills and Competencies:
• Previous experience supporting customers with complex software and
network environments.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting and issue-recognition skills.
• Strong understanding of Entrust PKI, smart cards, Windows Server 2003,
Active Directory, and LDAP.
• Excellent business communication (oral and written)
• Highly professional representation of Avaleris
• Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to work independently with
minimum guidance
• Strong sense of commitment to high-quality deliverables.
• Knowledge of Visual Source Safe is desirable.
• Development experience in .Net, SQL, ASP and C# is also desirable.
Qualifications:
• Certifications: MCSE or equivalent is desirable
• Have a minimum two to three years industry experience.
• University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, a relevant
field, or equivalent work-related experience.
