 Responsibilities  
 Cyber Security Researcher National/International Authority 

Possess a demonstrated mastery of highly advanced concepts in the field of 
computer security and be capable of generating new ideas for research  
advancing the state of the art in cyber centric defensive warfare and the 
protection of critical national infrastructure assets. Develops and publishes 
technical papers defining cutting edge technical solutions for information 
operations and analysis related to National Security topics such as: intrusion 
analysis, OS kernel vulnerabilities, advanced analytic tools, data 
visualizations techniques, reverse engineering binaries, covert channel 
communications and/or firmware embedded exploit code. 

Organizes and chairs sessions at national and international workshops ranging 
from informal "hacker conferences" to high level governmental briefings. Is a 
recognized and active participant at various computer security or "hacker" 
conferences and has existing relationships with numerous "A - List" 
participants. 

Presents cyber security concepts to CEO level industry groups, gives 
congressional testimony and provides consulting services on cyber security 
problems at a national/international level. Represents the INL at external 
events via participation in working groups, speaking engagements and scientific 
presentations in large public forums. 

Publicly acknowledged as the developer of innovative and cutting edge cyber 
security applications that have gained acceptance and wide spread recognition 
by the computer security community. 

Attracts large-scale projects that may cross lab wide organizational 
boundaries. Defines and leads efforts that have a direct impact on long term 
organizational strategic goals. Works to build core cyber capabilities within 
the National and Homeland Security organization.  
 


JOB REQUIREMENTS

 Qualifications  
 Bachelor's degree with 15 years relevant experience or advanced degree with 13 
years experience, PhD with 11 years relevant experience. Preferred disciplines 
are: Computer Science/Engineering, Math, EE 

Special Requirements/Training: 

Capable of obtaining a "Q" clearance with appropriate sigmas and SCI clearance. 
Capable of working in secured area, handling and storing and processing 
classified information,using combination locks and extensive range of passwords 
and combinations. 

Skill in advanced cyber security capabilities. Mastery of C programming skills 
with an ability to code in assembly as necessary. Mastery of Linux, Solaris, 
and Windows based operating system kernels. Superior background in searching 
and sorting algorithms, network engineering, packet craft, memory management 
and associated concepts. Consistently engaged with research and researchers 
responsible for Zero Day exploit generation and the underground hacker 
community methods of operation, involved personnel and organizations. Strong 
personal dedication to maintaining cutting edge skills in a very dynamic 
environment. Superior leadership abilities centric to the development and 
effective utilization of highly technical teams of personnel. Ability to juggle 
participation in multiple highly visible projects/programs at the same time. 
Skill in oral and written communication. Skill in establishing and developing 
customer rapport.
