Position: Security Engineer
Location: Washington D.C., District of Columbia, United States
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2006-04-23
Monitors the perimeter security architecture and surrounding infrastructure as
the Firewall Technician for clients global U.S. Embassies and Consulates. Scope
of responsibility encompasses not only intra- and interagency, but support for
all annexes and global U.S. embassies, and consulates. Daily tracks system
problems to include network hardware and software. Monitors the Integrated
Enterprise Management System (IEMS) trouble ticket to ensure timely compliance
while interfacing with clients to ensure problems and integrated solutions into
the network resolved client’s issue. Monitors all Sidewinders G2;
Stonegate, Raptor and TrueGate firewall traffic flow into and out of
architecture to include the investigation of any suspicious intrusion
activities. Manages Trend Micro Interscan logs to keep track of viruses and
other malicious codes entering the network and prevents possible virus
outbreak. Reviews Finjan SurfinGate and Surf control Webfilters to filter web
contents
and block users to visit unauthorized websites. Maintains Radware
server’s configuration to insure equal load balance between various
cluster servers. Ensures the policies and procedures for network security are
implemented and enforced. Monitors all cluster firewall servers daily. Reviews
and troubleshoots potential problems and new threats related to infrastructure
and all inter-agency connections insuring all traffic originating from within
complies with Dept of State Policies. Provides managers with a daily shift
report to include the status of projects, activities and security faults.
Monitors the Customer Processing Bureau classified firewall network traffic.
Federal Agency - Secret Clearance or above required
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Skills Desired: Unix Background, TCPDump Functionalities, Domain Name Service
(DNS) concepts, Firewall Administration Experience
(StoneGate/Sidewinder/TrueGates/Raptor), Day-to-Day Support Managing Trouble
Ticketing System, Solid Knowledge of Protocols and TCP/IP, and strong Written
and Communication Skills.
