Position: Chief Security Strategist
Location: Schaumburg, Illinois, United States
Type: Permanent F/T

Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations: Accountable to the ENGINEERING/ASE
senior leadership teams, will represent Motorola working with very large
customers (e.g., US Homeland Security) and internal technical leaders across
GEMS and Motorola, this position will determine and developing present and
future security architecture models to meet the needs of our businesses.
Although reporting to the senior director responsible for GEMS/ASTRO systems
engineering, this position will work closely with senior sector business and
technical leaders to impact overall corporate security mission.
Major Job Elements: Job Responsibility - Time%
* Determine requirements and lead development of Network Security roadmap for
ASTRO Products that achieve or surpass federal accreditation levels necessary
to obtain contracts meeting GEMS business objectives. -- 20%
* Will be primary focal point of Network Security working directly with GEMS
(sector)/ENGINEERING (group) senior management/architects on security product
issues impacting products. -- 20%
* Lead feature security development strategy to ensure proper validation in all
systems releases. -- 20%
* Spokesperson for Network Security issues partnering with business teams
across GEMS to ensure customer/market requirements are identified and meeting
market expectations. -- 20%
* Leads contacts with customer and APCO 25 standards bodies to build the
necessary relationships and influence decisions and direction favorable to
Motorola. -- 10%
* Leads and influences Motorola corporate organizations, other business units
and respective security councils. -- 10%
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Specific Knowledge/Skills: Qualifications - Type and Requirement
Citizenship
• US citizen, preferably born in the USA (to meet US government
requirement for Top Secret Security clearance)
Job Experience
• 10 years IP Network Architect experience including leading sub teams of
systems architects on creation of systems design artifacts.
• Enterprise-level IT systems, IP data networks, IP network security and
connectivity gateways
• Architectural strategic planning
• Nationwide radio systems a plus
• Project management
Technical Qualifications
• Minimum BS Engineering/Computer Science
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CICSP)
• Demonstrated Network Security industry authority evidenced by impacts,
memberships and influence
• Knowledge/experience with FIPS 800 standards and certification and
Accreditations procedures
• Translate requirements into a technical systems model describing the
architecture and describe the architecture, components and interrelationships.
• Ability to develop systems security, establish perimeter defense,
firewalls, VPNs, compliance and data privacy.
• Experience of 3rd party providers for products, devices such as
firewalls, IDS, AAA servers, etc. Software products i.e. Solaris, Windows,
Linux, VX Works, etc

• Partner with client Security experts (including US Homeland Security NS
experts) to identify needs and determine solutions.

requirements including development vs. purchase.
• Understand and execute financial trade-offs associated with threat
analysis versus investment in security countermeasures.
• Maintains relationships with other Motorola product teams utilizing
Network Security products and services.
• Manage 3rd party vendor relationships with security solutions providers.
• Have significant business acumen and can position internal decisions
using business facts and judgment.
Process Improvement
• Continuously improve network security processes and review/audit
products to assure compliance with SEI and quality initiatives and improve
productivity, cycle time, quality and customer satisfaction.
