Position: Security Researcher
Location: Santa Monica, California, United States
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2006-04-21
This is a senior-level position in Symantec Research Labs. The individual will
be responsible for submitting research proposals for new security technologies,
and carrying out all associated research activities. These may include building
of prototypes, publishing of research results, filing appropriate patents,
public presentations, etc. Projects will include short, medium and long-term
research efforts, all with the ultimate goal of commercializing the results to
help assure Symantec's continued leadership across all of the company's
businesses.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
7 years experience in commercial, government, or university software projects
required (some commercial experience preferred); advanced degree
(Ph.D./Master's) preferred; background in research preferred; strong
programming skills required; proven ability to deliver new technology and/or
prototypes a strong plus; experience in the security, backup, and/or storage
industries a strong plus; algorithm analysis skills a strong plus; published
papers, patents, a strong plus; proven ability to transfer research into
commercially shipping products a strong plus; presentation, writing, and
technology evangelism skills all a plus.
