Position: Security Engineer
Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States
Type: Permanent F/T

Arbor Newtorks is currently searching for a Sr. Security Engineering to join
our ASERT team in Ann Arbor, MI. Qualified candidates will join the Arbor
Security Engineering & Response Team (ASERT) and develop, debug, document, and
reverse engineer attacks as discovered by Arbor Networks’ global
monitoring infrastructure. They will translate third-party vulnerability
information into behavioral policies, innovate zero-day attack / detection /
analysis techniques, and work with cross-functional teams to specify and
prototype new product features. Successful candidates will provide security
thought leadership both internally and externally through research, training,
and publication. He or she will represent Arbor Networks’ security
expertise in the press and at forums like Blackhat, CanSecWest, USENIX, etc.
Candidates must be self-starters with a quick learning curve. He or she should
be detail-oriented, and should feel comfortable working in a fast-paced,
high-energy, deadline-driven environment.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Desired Skillset
 Extensive distributed systems software development,
particularly in Python, C or C++
 Win32 reverse engineering skills and knowledge of Win32 APIs
 Experience using Unix and Win32 debuggers
 Experience with x86 disassembly and the use of disassemblers
including IDA Pro
 Experience using/building VMWare images
 Extensive knowledge at all levels of the OSI protocol stack
 Past vulnerability discovery research
 Exploit development proficiency
 Previous participation in open-source or other security
community projects
 Previous development of open-source security tools or
commercial security products
 Previous public speaking experience in technical security forums
Required Skillset
 5 years security research experience
 3-5 years Unix/Windows system and network administration
experience
 Excellent analytical skills, along with superb grammar and
technical writing skills
 Strong organizational and personal skills
 Detail-oriented team player
 Desire to work in a fast-paced, high-energy, deadline-driven
environment
 Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
 Ability to communicate clearly with technical staff as well as
less technical colleagues
 Ability and willingness to take on additional tasks as assigned
Education
 Bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering or a related
field preferred
