Position:       Information Assurance Analyst
Location:       Linthicum, Maryland, United States

Summary:  Provide Information Systems (IS) security support to the Designated 
Approving Authority (DAA) to ensure proper system and information protection 
and accreditation. Provide IS support to the CIO in the implementation of 
applicable laws, regulations, and polices and assist in all technical and 
management service areas supporting an array of information and data processing 
systems, their software, processes and activities throughout their life cycle.  

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

In support of the Customer CIO:
•  Directly support the CIO in achieving strategic objectives by providing 
subject matter expertise in the areas of business process analysis and 
re-engineering, improving efficiency, technology insertion and improving 
collaborative tools, and improving joint picture development.  
•  Provide in-depth Information Assurance (IA) support for the systems 
that may include development of an IA Policy Framework that focuses on a risk 
management approach to securing business assets.

In support of the Customer DAA:
•  Develop and oversee the implementation of the security policy and 
providing guidance for securing IS’.
•  Ensure the development of system certification documentation by 
reviewing and endorsing such documentation and recommending action by the DAA.
•  Ensure that security testing and evaluation are completed and 
documented.
•  Advise the DAA on the selection and effective use of specific security 
mechanisms.
•  Maintain appropriate system accreditation documentation.
•  Evaluate threats and vulnerabilities to ascertain whether additional 
safeguards are needed.
•  Ensure a record of all security-related vulnerabilities and incidents 
is maintained, and report serious or unresolved violations to the DAA.
•  Ensure certification is accomplished for each IS.
•  Evaluate certification documentation and provide written 
recommendations for accreditation to the DAA.
•  Assess changes in the system, its environment, and operational needs 
that could affect the accreditation.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Clearance:
Candidates must be U.S. citizens and possess TOP SECRET clearance based on 
current SSBI.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1.      Strong working knowledge of IA and Certification & Accreditation 
activities and procedures in accordance with DCID 6/3, JAFAN 6/3, 
JDCSISSS_Rev21, and any other applicable security guidance.
2.      Have a working knowledge of system functions, security policies, 
technical security safeguards, and operational security measures.
3.      Strong knowledge of Department of Defense IT security-related standards.
4.      Knowledge of DoD IT Governance, enterprise architecture development and 
CIO support.
5.      Knowledge of Information Assurance Technology Framework.
6.      Working knowledge of IT solution development in compliance with DCID 
6/3, JDCSISSS_Rev21, JAFAN 6/3, and any other applicable security guidance.
7.      Working knowledge of auditing, risk and threat analysis, contingency 
planning, and implementing security standards and methods.
8.      Knowledge of various operating systems (Windows 2000/XP, LINUX and 
SOLARIS).
9.      Knowledge of network protocols used for secure communication.
10.     Ability to work independently.

Education & Experience:
Position requires five to eight years of Information Systems Security 
experience. A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or 
equivalent required.  3 years or more experience desired in direct support to 
DoD IT Governance, enterprise architecture development and CIO support. A 
Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or equivalent 
desired. Certified Information Security Systems Professional (CISSP) 
certification strongly desired.
