SALES ENGINEER

The ProtectPoint Network Security Sales Engineer (SE) is responsible for 
securing the technical component of a sale as well as ensuring ongoing customer 
satisfaction after the sale. The SE is responsible for articulating the 
technical benefits of ProtectPoint’s Managed Security Services to 
prospects, customers and partners by delivering presentations, RFP responses, 
product demonstrations, technical fit assessments, and ensuring successful 
product evaluations. The SE is integral in the post sales process ensuring 
customer satisfaction especially through the implementation stages, customer 
portal reviews, and any hand-off to supporting entities including the Security 
Operations Center staff.

As a senior member of the ProtectPoint sales team, the SE participates in the 
full sales cycle by working and partnering with the ProtectPoint Channel Sales 
Manager(s) and ProtectPoint Channel Partners.  The SE helps to scope and 
eliminate sales blockers and obstacles, effectively handles objections, and 
clearly articulates the key value components of ProtectPoint.  The SE is 
capable of representing the technical features of ProtectPoint through 
demonstrations of its powerful Customer Security Portal (RADAR) and its unique 
and powerful security events correlation engine (PERC).  



JOB REQUIREMENTS

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
•  5+ years experience in the network security industry as a consultant or 
in a sales/customer support role
•  Knowledge of the Sales Cycle and Technical Requirements Phase
•  Significant knowledge of network security applications including 
firewalls, intrusion detection prevention systems (IDPS), virtual private 
networks (VPN), email anti-virus (AV), and Spam elimination software.
•  Effective communicator with all levels of an organization including 
technical and business owners
•  Good presentation skills including the ability to demonstrate key 
technical components to a broad range of audiences including technical 
evaluators to C level management
•  Excellent written skills that clearly demonstrate key technical 
features and competitive value
•  Ideal candidate maintains key technical certifications including SANS 
GIAC or CISSP
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
•  Provide pre and post technical support to sales teams.
•  Manage the end-to-end technical component of the sales cycle, including 
product presentations, demonstrations, product evaluations, and production 
implementations.
•  Act as a Single Point of Contact for product issues, both pre- and 
post-sales. 
•  Working with the Channel Sales Manager(s), identify, train and mentor 
Channel (reseller) partners.
•  Attend trade shows, conferences and marketing events as needed. 
•  Build and maintain client relationships. 
•  Up to 30% travel is required. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

•  BA/BS in a technical discipline (preferred).
•  5-10 years of Technical Sales/ Sales Engineering or Support
•  5 years minimum selling and/or deploying security technology
