Software Quality Assurance Engineering Manager

In light of our Silicon Valley expansion, Webroot Software is seeking a Manager 
of Software Quality Assurance Engineering for our new Development Center.  The 
QAE Manager will manage one or more teams of software quality engineers and 
ensure that the company’s products meet total quality management and 
reliability standards.  This position requires research and implementation of 
new or improved testing methods, processes, tools and systems while developing 
and coordinating appropriate test procedures. This person is also responsible 
for the hiring, performance appraisals and pay reviews of configuration 
engineering personnel.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

•  Capable of estimating schedules, determining project scope and driving 
projects to completion
•  Create test plans that meet design specifications, report on testing 
cycle and help produce software that is reasonably free from defects
•  Review product requirement documentation, participate in design 
sessions and provide stakeholders with a risk analysis for each product 
iteration
•  Capable of mentoring software quality assurance engineers in test case 
design product testing
•  Responsible for contributing to improvement of software development 
processes as well as ensuring that the software quality team follows the 
predefined process 
•  Responsible for guiding career development of software quality team 
•  Communicates with developers, product managers, usability engineers and 
technical support specialists on product issues
•  Works with Customer Support group to help perform root cause analysis 
of issues found in the wild
•  Works with Development team to ensure that the product is fully tested
•  Works with Documentation to see that all enhancements, bug fixes, and 
new products are documented
•  Should be capable of identifying and proposing areas of improvement 
throughout the software development process
•  Responsible for ensuring the effective, on-going communication between 
the Silicon Valley Advanced Development Center and the Boulder, CO R&D facility
•  Provides technical assistance and technical training to other 
departments as required
•  Must be capable of measuring team performance and provide guidance 
where needed
•  Must be capable of mentoring team members and understanding their 
personal and professional objectives and how to help them achieve them

JOB REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

•  Bachelor’s Degree in Technology, equivalent industry experience 
acceptable
•  6+ years proven work experience in software quality assurance 
engineering
•  6+ years proven work experience with Software Quality Methodologies, 
principles and processes
•  4+ years proven work experience in leading quality teams in test case 
design, and testing methods
•  5+ years proven work experience with Automated Testing (Mercury Test 
Suite preferred)
•  5+ years proven work experience writing Test Scripts (i.e. Perl, 
Python, TCL)
•  5+ years proven work experience in consumer or enterprise software 
quality department
•  5+ years proven work experience with Windows 2K/XP
•  5+ years proven work experience with communication protocols (i.e. 
HTTP, Sockets, TCP/IP, SSL)
•  5+ years proven work experience with defect tracking tools (Bugzilla 
preferred)
•  Must have experienced with Agile Development practices
•  Security industry experience a plus
