Senior Software Developer

Webroot is widely recognized for setting the technology standard by focusing on
research and development. Our highly regarded R&D organization, based in
Boulder, Colorado, will now be expanded with the opening of our new Advanced
Technology Development Center based in Silicon Valley. Under the leadership of
renowned network security expert Gerhard Eschelbeck, CTO and SVP of
Engineering, this elite team of the industry's best developers and engineers
will focus on cutting-edge security solutions and services to combat the latest
complex malware technology.
In light of our Silicon Valley expansion, Webroot Software is seeking a Senior
Software Developer for our new Development Center. The Senior Software
Developer performs product design, bug verification, release testing, and beta
support projects which may require research and analysis. The ideal candidate
will participate in the implementation of solutions that employ leading-edge
technologies in a Win32 development environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Must be able to design, create, and unit test code to meet assigned
requirements
• Capable of estimating development schedules and determining project
scope
• Creates code that meets design specifications, follows standards, is
easy to maintain and is reasonably free from defects
• Test and peer review code for technical accuracy, standards, and
functional compliance to the design
• Communicates with other developers, product managers and technical
support specialists on product issues.
• Works with QA team to ensure that the product is fully tested
• Works with Documentation to see that all enhancements, bug fixes, and
new products are documented
• Should be capable of identifying and proposing areas of improvement
throughout the software development process
• Provides technical assistance and technical training to other
departments as required

JOB REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s Degree in Technology, equivalent industry experience
acceptable
• 6+ years technical experience in software design and product
development
• 6+ years proven work experience in software engineering
• 6+ years proven work experience coding with a combination of C/C++,
Java, or other high level programming language
• 6+ years proven work experience with object-oriented analysis and
design (OOAD)
• 4+ years proven work experience developing in Win32/Win64 environments
using MS Visual Studio
• 4+ years proven work experience developing with COM/COM+/DCOM
• 4+ years proven work experience with communication protocols (i.e.
HTTP, Sockets, TCP/IP, SSL)
• 4+ years proven work experience with Web technologies (i.e. IIS, Apache)
• 4+ years proven work experience with relational databases (i.e. DB2,
Oracle, MS SQL)
• 2+ years proven work experience with UML
• Familiarity or experience with Agile Development practices a BIG plus
• Security industry experience a plus
