Position: Sr. Security Engineer
Location: New York City, New York, United States
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2006-02-23
Our client is a Fortune 500 company with tremendous growth potential. This will
be a high visibility position in a small but growing security group. You will
have a good amount of autonomy and numerous technical challenges.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Review IT systems and audit logs (i.e. user logins, database changes,
user permission or system set up changes, etc.) daily for suspicious activity
that could compromise IT systems.
•Conduct investigations to identify potential security threats/issues and
make recommendations to VP for rectify issues and promote resolution.
•Test computers for vulnerabilities before they go into production.
•Review deployment checklists and advise infrastructure groups (Network
group, LAN, Telecom, Help Desk, etc.) of the findings to ensure secure PC,
system, and server deployments.
•Evaluate security tools to verify the effectiveness and applicability of
tools with our environment.
•Interpret Corporate Security Policy and create policies/protocols within
the system set up that adhere/are compliant to/with policy.
•Manage policies/protocols and advise regarding firewalls, policy-based
monitoring tools, VPN, encryption technologies, etc.
•Conduct periodic audits/scans of the security environment via automated
tools to proactively identify vulnerabilities that could be used to exploit our
network.
•Notify executive management of any security threats and provide incident
response support to resolve issue.
•Provide regular reports to management regarding status of individual
workload and activities, and results of scans and audits.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS:
•Strong knowledge of information technology including networking and
operating systems with heavy emphasis on Firewalls and host Intrusion Detection
systems.
•Ability to use common scripting languages and experience with security
analysis tools
•Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
•Requires strong organizational skills to prioritize and manage workload
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
•Seven to ten years prior work experience in the IT security field required
•College or Technical School - BS in Computer Science/Information
Technology required
•High School Diploma or equivalent required
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Certifications in CISSP, GIAC or
networking are required.
