--------------------------------------------------- SECURITYFOCUS JOBS - NEW OPPORTUNITY --------------------------------------------------- JOB DESCRIPTION --------------------------------------------------- Position: Sr. Security Engineer Location: Oxford, , United Kingdom Type: Permanent F/T Closing Date: 2006-02-10 The Role The Secure Infrastructure Engineer (SIE) will have responsibility, under the lead of the Software Development Manger, for the design, implementation, testing and the subsequent enhancement and maintenance of the secure infrastructure to support The Organisations’ products. This is a new role and it provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of both a new product set and overall company strategy. The role will also involve working with customers to establish deployment requirements, agree deployment plan and assisting them implementation. He/She will have deep understanding and experience of the design and deployment of secure distributed systems based on standard open components. Customer interface: Limited for first 3 months Key responsibilities Design, development and implementation of the infrastructure to support planned product offerings Development, implementation and maintenance of core infrastructure components. Establishment of baseline product configurations Work with the Lead Kernel Developer and the Lead GUI developer to package the products, based on the infrastructure developed Work with key external technology partners to refine and develop product infrastructure Maintain a plan to constantly improve security aspects of the infrastructure Ensure that the infrastructure is secure, highly available, performing and scalable. Identify bottlenecks in the system, eg. database access, network capacity, components architecture, etc. and provide solutions to resolve any issues. Provide means to measure component and product performance in relation to their area of responsibility. To maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for the components and products developed. Maintain unit tests for all work produced. Help produce release, maintenance, installation and deployment routines. Working closely with customers, plan, configure and commission and troubleshoot customer software installations and upgrades. Work with other areas of the business to define total scope of required deliveries and identify total costs, risks, opportunities and dependencies. Manage the preparation and maintenance of project and technical documentation. Communicate regularly with colleagues and work with them to create a supportive team environment. Actively contribute to the continuous improvement process and the ongoing development of a QA culture by, for example, changing behaviour and identifying and implementing improvements to processes and activities, and encourage others to do the same. Work with external penetration test organisations to validate the Organisation’s products and deployment configurations JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- Qualifications Experience & Knowledge (essential) At least 5 years experience in deploying operating systems in a heterogeneous environment i.e. Unix, Linux, and Windows. Good working knowledge of security, intrusion detection and intrusion prevention. Demonstrable experience in designing, deploying, and performance tuning network file store Proven configuration and deployment experience in the following Encrypted file systems HTTP Reverse proxies in a secure environment OS hardening (eg Chroot jails) Digital Certificates Secure protocols and VPNs (e.g. ssh, ssl, https, tls) OS Logging and distributed collection of logs (e.g. syslog) LDAP clients and servers Resilient and highly available systems Responsible and able to communicate with people at all levels and eager to learn. Product Development Experience. Self-starter who can operate independently and manage their own workload.
