Position: Sr. Security Analyst
Location: atlanta, Georgia, United States
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2006-01-14
Under limited supervision, serves as a member of the Security Operations Center
(SOC) team to provide security infrastructure management services to ISS'
Managed Security Services (MSS) customers. Provides front line and second
tier support in monitoring and management of customer network security devices.
May be assigned to higher level customers (based on revenues).
Duties and Responsibilities
• Monitors and administers managed security devices and monitors security
events utilizing various management consoles such as Site Protector, Nagios &
CheckPoint SmartDashboard, to identify activity patterns of events (low,
medium, high) and implement policy changes as required. (40%)
• Evaluates and analyzes events of high severity and provides high level
security advice to customers. Takes appropriate corrective action on routine
and complex problems or escalates highly complex problems (eliminate false
positive events or open MSS ticket for escalation) based upon MSS standards.
Resolves problems escalated from MSS Security Analyst (e.g., complex firewall
policy changes, multi-tier firewall troubleshooting, etc.). (25%)
• Works on MSS tickets based upon MSS procedures to resolve routine and
complex customer issues. Follows change management procedures and modifies
customer Security Policies; troubleshoots device outages, connectivity issues,
and policy related problems; and maintains system health of managed
devices/platforms. Performs review and audit of customer Security Policies;
applies software updates; and performs maintenance to managed
applications/platforms when applicable. (25)%
• Performs other duties as required. (10%)
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:
• Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
• Certifications such as Check Point Certified Security Administrator
(CCSA), Check Point Certified Security Expert (CCSE), Cisco Certified Network
Associate (CCNA), Certified Internet Security System Professional (CISSP), GAIC
Certifications, etc. strongly desired
Experience: Two year’s related support experience to include at least
one year as an MSS Security Services Analyst or comparable position.
Skills:
• Detailed knowledge of ISS Real Secure & Checkpoint Firewall-1, TCP/IP,
Cisco, UNIX, NT, and IP Routing
• Strong knowledge of IDS or firewall technologies
• Good knowledge of operating systems (e.g., UNIX, etc.) and general
internet, networking and computer knowledge (software and hardware) required
• Proficient knowledge of basic network services, vulnerabilities and
attacks
• Good understanding of Security Policy design and best practices
• Good communications, organizational and problem solving skills
• Detail oriented
