Director, Quality Assurance

Provide hands-on leadership directing the activities of the Arbor Networks QA
organization.
Responsibilities
Manage ten to twenty quality assurance engineers split into product specific
teams.
Coordinate QA activities with product management, software development and
operational support teams.
Work closely with QA team leads to maintain project plans and track work
efforts to ensure the timely and successful execution of those plans.
Participate in software design reviews, direct the development of test plans
and test cases, direct and assist in product testing.
Develop quality standards and best practices for QA teams.
Provide regular release quality reports to senior management.
Hire additional engineers as needed.
Assess staff performance.
Experience
7+ years of commercial QA/testing experience.
4+ years of managing a commercial software QA team.
BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or
equivalent.
This position is located in our Ann Arbor, Michigan engineering office.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Skills
Experience managing QA teams assessing commercial off-the-shelf software.
Experience in a start up or other rapid time-to-market environment.
Demonstrated ability to build an effective team.
Extensive experience developing test plans and project timelines.
Experience with current software testing methodologies.
Strong experience doing manual and automated testing.
Solid knowledge of fundamental networking concepts and protocols (TCP, UDP,
ICMP, IP).
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
Basic security concepts and tools (firewalls, IDS).
Network management, intrusion detection, and traffic analysis.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Skills
Significant understanding of internet service provider practices, particularly
with respect to wide-area routing.
Experience testing network security applications (IDS, Firewall, IPS,
Vulnerability Scanners).
Experience testing complex web applications.
Experience with Mercury QTP or comparable automated UI test tools.
Expertise in scripting languages such as Tcl, Python, or Visual Basic.
Extensive usage of both Unix/Linux and Windows systems.
Relational database knowledge including SQL and Postgres.
Web development experience including HTML, CSS, and Javascript
