Position: Sr. Security Engineer
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2006-01-12
·Responsible for ensuring the security of data and systems by
evaluating, recommending, and monitoring compliance with corporate networking
standards and policies
·Responsible for the support and design of systems and computer
networking infrastructure for internal and external client business needs
·Responsible for justifying, recommending, acquiring, and using network
security systems and devices to monitor and report network and server security
devices
·Investigate and document root causes and sources of security-related
incidents
·Provide 3rd level troubleshooting for non-security related problems
encountered by staff, providing technical support and application support to
end users as required
·Troubleshoot/repair/patch networking systems and devices
·Monitoring and provide recommendations on the use of network
utilization and bandwidth
·Support remote access of internal and external users as required
·Maintain security of both communications and network systems ensuring
that valid access is only available to authorized users
·Monitor and maintain all Wide Area Network connectivity, including
private point-to-point, frame-relay, VPN, and Internet connectivity for all
locations
·Create technical network and security best practices and procedures
·Maintain knowledge of current IT security trends and provide
recommendations on how they can be best utilized
·Submit budget items to management for expected annual IT security and
network capital and operating expenses for hardware, software and maintenance
services.
·Analyze company needs and develop new networks or technical security
modifications to aid in the operation of the business, including project
proposals, critical path, project planning, budget requirements
·Ensure all network systems and devices are functioning except when
scheduled downtime is required
·Create and keep up-to-date all network topology schematics and diagrams
·Patience and understanding while solving problems and training users
·Strong troubleshooting skills
·In-depth knowledge to computer hardware/software, and computer
networking protocols and designs
·Hands-on security-related network experience of 2+ years
·Must be able to understand and keep up-to-date on new technology as it
become available
·Strong customer service skills
·Requires a bachelor’s degree and 4-7 years of experience in
networking LAN/WAN/wireless technology and design or related experience
·Provide leadership and guidance to technical staff in other disciplines
·Experience administering a multi-state network supporting 7x24x365
production environment
CISSP required.
