Network Security Analyst
The CERT® Coordination Center (CERT/CC) is a center of Internet security
expertise, located at the Software Engineering Institute, a federally funded
research and development center operated by Carnegie Mellon University and
sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense and part of a joint effort with the
Department of Homeland Security's National Cyber Security Division. The
Network Situational Awareness Group (NetSA) focuses on quantitative studies of
potentially malicious activities on large-scale computer networks.
CERT is in search of a Network Security Analyst to develop cutting-edge
analysis techniques for operational use in high-impact environments. This is
an exciting opportunity to make a difference in survivable systems and
information security.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications are a BS in Computer Science or scientific/technical field with
8 years experience (or an MS with 5 years experience) in operational network
security or other TCP/IP network operations in a production environment,
including analysis of security incident information. Requirements also include
experience in a high-level programming language, user or implementation level
experience with a subset of the following technologies: IDS, IPS, SIM/SEM,
network mapping, vulnerability scanners, firewalls, and routers as well as deep
knowledge of modern operating systems, experience with various Internet
protocols, Unix shell scripting and the use of SQL databases. The successful
candidate will be expected to function in the role of a consultant, be capable
of conducting analytical studies and investigations and possess excellent oral
and written communication skills and the ability to work both independently and
with teams.
Candidates must be able to pass a background investigation, obtain a security
clearance, and be a US citizen.
