Director of Threat Research
Our client is the leading provider of security solutions enabling businesses to
secure and control greynet applications such as instant messaging,
adware/spyware, P2P file sharing, web conferencing and instant voice.
As the Director of Threat Research you will oversee a team of 15 engineers and
security analysts, who profile new and emerging threats to greynet applications
such as instant messaging, adware/spyware, webmail, P2P file sharing, web
conferencing and instant voice. The team will analyze real-time internet
communications in the enterprise, determine the scope of vulnerabilities and
develop a world-class Threat Research Database and set the stage for the
company to become the number one industry resource on greynet security and
first-to market to identify threats.
Responsibilities include:
• Establish the company Threat Research Lab as the leaders in threat
research
• Effectively lead the research team in creating a ‘best
practices’ research lab: drive planning and development, critical
milestones, world-class class processes, efficiency and excellence.
• Provide consistent overall strategy and vision as well as a unified
technical vision for the group and lab
• Provide thought leadership in the threat research arena: be the company
spokesperson and press contact on threat announcements and developments
• Manage and coordinate building partnerships, creating a network of
information exchange with security research agencies and partners.
• Represent the company at industry forums and conferences
BS/MS EE, CS or related field, MBA desirable.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Overview: The candidate must have a total of at least 10 years experience in
technology with 5+ years in security software with substantial project
leadership and senior product or engineering management experience. Must be
able to work in a high-pressure start-up environment, work with limited
resources and assume a broad range of responsibilities.
• Strategy and Execution: Proven ability to deliver world class
management across the full project life-cycle, including demonstrating clear
wins and accomplishments
• Leadership: Proven success in managing cross-functional teams and
developing strong relationships and exceptional communications with
engineering, sales, support, marketing, customers and executive management.
• Domain: The position requires a strong technical background in the area
of security software or networking.
Experience and/or understanding with CERT, SANS (e.g. Top 20) and
IAVA rankings for information security vulnerabilities
Additionally, should have knowledge of how to architect and automate
system for mining security databases and alerts.
• Must be decisive, customer focused and capable of developing and
managing strong relationships/communications with partners, the press,
customers, sales, engineering, marketing and senior management.
• Bright, quick, creative “out-of-the-box” thinker, who can be
a change agent and who can create best-practices and winning processes.
• Autonomous, self-starter with start-up experience; comfortable working
in a rapidly changing environment with ad-hoc processes
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build
relationships with development, sales, services and customers. Key attributes:

• A quick study with excellent written and verbal communications and
highly professional presentation skills and demeanor.
