Security Operations- Server Administrator
Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations
We are currently seeking individuals with strong security background to
join a team of professionals delivering quality IT security services to
a variety of top-tier international clients. We are a Fortune 100
company with sales over US$30 billion in 2004, a global leader in
communications technologies across many business lines. Our Security
Operations Center (SOC) provides 24x7x365 security support for our
customers.
This position is that of a full time Applications, Server, and SAN
administrator supporting the SOC.
The primary job responsibility will be the implementation and support of
a custom-deployment of ArcSight, a commercial security product. The
individual will need to learn the application at a very detailed level,
develop scripts to add and enhance functionality, and debug problems.
Custom product development involves creating and maintaining new
"agents" to support new and custom data sources that will be monitored
by the SOC. The administrator is also responsible for developing the
procedural and technical means to add new customers to the SOC.
A second core responsibility is architecting and maintaining the
infrastructure roadmap for the operational group. The administration
team must be able to proactively identify the operational needs and
requirements of the SOC and adjust the technical infrastructure to
satisfy those needs. The administration team is responsible for
maintaining and improving hardware and software to both keep the SOC
operational and to also improve efficiencies and reliability. The
administrator will keep operating system and application software
current, including testing of releases, and keep hardware up to date
according to roadmap and system generations for proper support. The
Administrator will coordinate support between multiple vendors.
The administrator will proactively maintain servers and databases to
avoid outages. The administrator is also responsible for producing root
cause reports for any system issue. The administrator supports
reactionary issues on a 7x24 basis and is expected to support the SOC
during incident response activities.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting ArcSight
- Developing ArcSight content and custom agents
- Creating a DR plan and implementing it
- Create infrastructure roadmap to meet operational goals and vendor
requirements
- Securing the servers to meet CIS guidelines
- Managing an EMC CLARiiON system
- Windows subject matter expert for incident response efforts
- Application maintenance
- Installation and imaging of new servers
- Patching systems and applications
- Maintain system back ups
- 24x7 on-call support of SOC infrastructure
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Specific Knowledge/Skills
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree
- Degree in computer science or related experience
- Ability to program in one or more scripting languages
- Strong knowledge of Windows server administration
- Strong knowledge of EMC product administration
- Ability to work independently to diagnose and resolve problems
- Ability to follow established procedures and suggest improvements to
those procedures
