Position:       Sr. Security Engineer
Location:       Washington, District of Columbia, United States
Type:           Contract

Senior member of the Network Operations Center (NOC) support team. 
Perform day-to-day systems administration, management, reporting, 
implementation, maintenance, research
& development, and operational technology assessments for the LAN/WAN.
• Experience with Cisco PIX Firewall; installs/upgrades for OS, solid 
understanding of
command set; ability to understand, create, and modify rules; read, understand 
and act on log output.
• Experience with Snort; installing/upgrading; solid understanding of 
capabilities, creating
and modifying rules, and the ability to determine urgency of alarms.
• Experience in auditing IT systems and performing penetration testing to 
measure and verify the effectiveness of security controls.
• Experience in disaster recovery planning, business continuity planning 
testing, and reengineering support for client's future requirements. Create and 
update technical, project, support and security documentation as required.
• Experience with the functionality of nCircle, Patchlink, and IronPort 
appliances desirable.
• Experience with BlueCoat proxy appliance; ability to apply updates to 
the operating
system and rule sets; create custom filters from the command line or GUI 
interfaces.
• Experience with Microsoft Operating Systems; Sun Solaris, Linux (System 
Admin).
Ability to evaluate vulnerability announcements for systems, and apply 
countermeasures, updates, and patches for systems and the firewall.
• Familiarity with CIS process, scoring tools and check lists.
• Knowledge of Federal guidelines and policies affecting Information 
Technology preferred.
• Proficient in anti-virus prevention, detection, administration, and 
management for NOS
and desktops.
• Serve as the NOC lead on related projects assigned to the development 
and implementation (D & I) team. NOC project team lead will ensure that these 
projects adhere to the Operations Turn-over policy and procedures. Specific 
responsibilities
include:
• Work closely with D & I Project lead to conduct requirements analyses to 
prepare project
plans.
• Maintain accurate project schedules throughout the life of the project 
and keep project
stakeholders informed of any schedule changes.
• Work closely with D & I in the preparation for test plans, 
implementation schedules, and
turnover.
• Work closely with D & I to update project plans, and SOPs.
• Work closely with D & I, and security to understand any associated risks 
for specific
projects.
• Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with all team 
members and client's
existing staff. This includes being a resource for NOC and D&I related projects.
• Institute, document and manage processes and procedures to ensure 
configuration, and
change management quality assurance and control is maintained to assure 
activities meet program mgmt. expectations.
• Set and maintain targets for constant quality improvement.
• Delineate and manage client's needs and expectations.
• Based on current industry best practices and client requirements; 
provide reports
(statistical, client-specific, and management) as required (daily, weekly, 
monthly).
• As required, manage and/or participate in special projects in support of 
the program
Program.


JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
Demonstrated management and implementation experience with leading IT platforms 
and enabling technologies including Windows Servers, Netware, UNIX, Routers, 
Switches, and Firewalls.
• Ability to learn and apply new knowledge quickly and effectively.
• Excellent technical writing, presentations, and systems analysis skills.
• Proficient in switch, router, VPN servers, Remote Access Servers (RAS), 
and firewall
networking technologies that cover administration, management, maintenance, and 
DNS
administration. Assist in the development and integration for all network 
communication
requirements for the LAN/WAN.
• Create and update technical, project, support and security documentation 
as required.
• Sound experience and understanding of the TCP/IP protocol and stack; 
subnetting;
experience with TCPDUMP, SNOOP, Ethereal and or Network General Sniffer; 
ability to
decode network traffic at all levels of the stack.
• Proficient in outlining data flows, device/server communication, and 
trouble-shooting.
Create and update technical, project, support and security documentation as 
required.
