Business Development Manager – Critical Infrastructure Security

Compensation: $80,000 salary plus 15% annual bonus

Location: Any US city with good air connections throughout the US (weekly 
travel to client locations - 60%+ travel)

Position Objective:
Use Business and Account Management skills to develop, promote, and sell the 
company’s Critical Infrastructure Security products and services in the 
Utilities sector.  Identify and understand the strategic market trends and 
regulatory directives for communication network security in Utilities to enable 
Company to further develop its portfolio of leading-edge products, services, 
and solutions for securing critical infrastructures.

Duties:

Support the Business Development and Product Marketing areas in crafting, 
advancing, executing, and sustaining the company’s Strategic Information 
Assurance Plan through the following activities:

1.      Identify major initiatives for critical infrastructure communications 
security, with an emphasis on SCADA networks, within the various Utility 
sectors, including Electric, Gas, Water, Wastewater, and Petroleum in order to 
build target lists and specific objectives.
2.      Present and sell products with a high degree of technical expertise to 
existing accounts as well as target list accounts and respond to RFIs, RFPs and 
RFQs, as required.
3.      Prepare sales forecast for opportunities and quantify potential value 
of opportunities, probability of success, and associated risks and mitigation 
strategies.
4.      Identify and recommend strategic alliances with Supervisory Control 
Application Providers and System Integrators in order to develop strategic 
business relationships in support of product sales to Utilities.
5.      Represent the company at trade shows and sales events either directly 
or in conjunction with business partners.
6.      Identify Industry Associations, Government Organizations, and 
Consulting Groups working on critical infrastructure security and cultivate 
close cooperation and/or participation with them in order to understand market 
drivers and develop business and product strategies aligned with their 
direction.
7.      Position Company products, services, and development capabilities 
within reach of the identified opportunities both for immediate application and 
longer-term product development initiatives.
8.      Identify and maintain detailed knowledge base of competing products and 
technologies in the market space.
9.      Liaise with all relevant departments to build business and product 
plans and gain approval at the highest level in the Company.
10.     Manage and promote the company’s business activities for critical 
infrastructure security in the Americas and via partnerships on a Global basis.




JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
Key Skills and Experience Required:

1.      At least 5 years experience in data communications with strong 
technical skills and an excellent understanding of the products and 
technologies utilized for supervisory control systems.
2.      Personality and presence are of paramount importance.  Must be 
persuasive and convincing, possessing full technical command of the subject 
matter to ensure trust and acceptance at senior levels within the company and 
Utility customers.
3.      Preferred: Knowledge of current information assurance technologies 
including cryptography, public key principles, digital signatures and 
certificates.
4.      A team player with the ability to work with all relevant parties, 
turning product and service ideas into winning business plans.
5.      Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).  Ability to 
prepare and deliver clear and convincing presentations on a one to one basis as 
well as before large groups of customers, resellers, and/or company personnel.
6.      Ability to assist in preparing business plans covering all of the 
following areas: market requirements, potential revenues, product functional 
requirements, development costs, timescales, competitive pressures, and 
appropriate route to market.
7.      Flexibility to travel throughout the US and internationally at times.
8.      Must be a U.S. Citizen without Dual Citizenship (due to government 
contract requirements).
