Summary: 

McAfee is World’s largest dedicated security company.  It offers the 
industry’s most innovative and comprehensive security solutions through 
combination of system & network security solutions. 

The Group Product Marketing Manager will provide strategic marketing direction 
for McAfee’s range of System Security (desktop/server) solutions targeted 
small/medium businesses through large Enterprises. They will be responsible for 
developing and directing go-to-market activity to achieve planned business 
objectives and growth with a key emphasis on routes-to-market optimization and 
strategy. Working with local marketing teams around the world, s/he will 
develop tools and training to equip the sales force, as well as coach/advise 
the regional marketing teams in creating effective demand generation programs. 
S/He will be responsible for driving marketing strategy across the regions and 
heading marketing initiatives for his/her products. S/he will act as primary 
interface between the product team and sales/customers, and will be the 
internal evangelist and product expert.  Specific projects will include: 
product positioning and messaging; product evangelism to customers, 
 prospects, journalist and analysts; the coordination of the go-to-market 
launch strategy, pricing strategy; product branding, all product content and 
collateral, competitive positioning; sales training and education.  This person 
should be reasonably technical and have experience in system/host security and 
systems management to teach sales professionals how to sell solutions, as well 
as engage directly with customers in pre-sales calls. He/she will develop 
strong relationships and work closely with Product Management and Engineering. 

Key Responsibilities:

•  Go-to-Market Strategy: Drive overall go-to-market strategy, planning 
and execution for the product family in support of awareness, market-share and 
revenue growth objectives.
•  Positioning: Develop & implement high impact and differentiated 
positioning for the product family
•  Product Launches: Spearhead high-impact product launch into market as 
well channels
•  Pricing: Conduct pricing and margin analysis, including competitive 
pricing analysis, on an ongoing basis.  Maintain global product pricing for 
product family
•  Sales Tools: Develop high-impact sales tools such as white papers, 
presentations, case studies, business cases, TCO/ROI analysis
•  Routes-to-Market: Develop & implement Routes-to-Market plan for the 
product family.  Execute upon both high-value to high-volume distribution 
strategy and partnership opportunities
•  Training: Develop and deliver sales and channel training covering 
industry trends, market opportunity, product value proposition, selling 
strategies, and competitive position
•  Competitive Analysis: Closely monitor marketplace for competitive 
moves.  Develop internal and external competitive analysis and selling-against 
guides for all competitive products.  Technical Marketing Engineering resources 
available to assist with hands-on competitive testing
•  Other: Perform internal and external evangelist role for the product 
family. Speaking engagements at industry events.  Interface with product 
management and engineering team for gathering and sharing market intelligence 
and customer feedback. 



JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Background: 

•  Must have at least 8-12 years of strong product marketing experience 
with progressively increasing responsibilities
•  Must have prior product marketing experience with system security 
products/services 
•  Product Management / Marketing experience with Fortune 500 enterprise 
and SMB market
•  Product Marketing or Management experience in web security, anti-virus, 
messaging security, or IDS/IPS products/services a big plus
•  Strong familiarity and with networking and security concepts such as 
routing, switching, network and system security, layered protection, 
vulnerabilities, Malware etc.
•  Prior experience in recommending / selling / building security 
solutions would be a plus 
•  Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills 
•  Bachelor’s degree minimum.  Master’s degree in 
business/marketing area highly desired.
